Life is mysterious, fascinating, intriguing. Here my words nibble around the edges of it as the mood takes me.

Then and now
A few evenings ago, our adult kids got together for a "sibs only" dinner.
From left: JS (Deon), SD (Lisa), JD (Mel) and SS (Steve).
Its not that they don't see each other - a LOT - but this was an official occasion, just to celebrate their relationship - or some such.
It was only when I read JD's blog http://www.five-browns.blogspot.com/ (July 1st) that I realised they had actually spent many growing up years separated because of the age spread.
I had never consciously realised that before.
In my head, they were always together while they were growing up -
I have now worked out that Lisa left home for training in Johannesburg when Mel and Dee were 11 and 6 respectively.
And that Steve technically had to leave home from the beginning of his Matric year - so he was about 16 - meant that the two younger kids were without their older siblings for a lot of their critical growing up years.
It rocked my world a bit when I connected those dots.
What is so wonderful is that, in spite of all that, they totally 'get' each other and that they are best friends, loving hanging out with each other and, I know, will always be there for each other.
Really heartwarming for a mom.
You guys ROCK!!
