What Was That Again?

During the time each political party's spokesperson made a speech congratulating the new president of SA, one of the Afrikaans speaking guys told this tale: "Once upon a time, some boere (SA Afrikaans-speaking farmers) were travelling through the bushveld in a wagon drawn by eight oxen. Night fell and the boere stopped, unhitched the oxen and set up camp. Later, in the pitch black African night, they were all woken by the roaring of lions very close by. Panicky, they rushed to hitch the oxen to the wagon; to get as much distance between themselves and the lions as possible. As the sky lightened in the African dawn, they found that they had harnessed seven oxen . . . and one lion to the wagon! The boere had a serious problem. It was not so much that they had a lion hitched to the wagon - It was: how the heck are we going to unhitch it!?" Well, the whole parliament rocked with laughter and enjoyment at a good story about the stupidity of the boere. Maybe some of them did realise what was being said . . .

But maybe later, there were some sudden:

"Hey - hang on a minute . . . " moments for many of those who laughed so loudly.

My hope is that that tale will be prophetic:

that the lion Motlanthe will be impossible for the ANC to unhitch from their wagon when the elections come:

and that he prove himself such an outstanding leader that Zuma will be totally eclipsed.

PS: In tonight's newspapers:

Obviously there are others who think the same . . .

And then .... just because it is SO nice to see it in print . . .

And now - enough with the politics already!

Who needs news24.co.za when we've got alliechilling.blogspot.

I am not completely "politics literate" thanks to your blog.

The bias may be questionable but I shall stand firm! LOL
