Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

I love my hairdresser.
She's a terrific person.
Really.
She's great - and good at her job too.
But what IS it with hairdressers and cutting?
What don't they understand about the word "TRIM??"
I don't know about you, but when I use that word, I am totally happy with the length of my hair but I want it tidied up a little.
What I do not mean is, crop my hair
But every now and then, even the best of them get this kind of manic cutting thing.
They get a pair of scissors in their hands and it's as though they can't stop.
They just keep snipping away while you sit there with a frozen expression knowing that it is already too late to protest.
This is what I got in response to my request for a trim yesterday:

This is actually a really good photo.

True to life.

I really was that pale when I had a good look at the few strands of hair she had left me.

Freak!!

Sometimes I think a trip to the dentist is less traumatic

Well after my last experience I am still too tramautised to have a 'trim' and most people will think this is very trivial but then they didnt see me with the mullet. I have to at least get my fringe cut cos at the moment I am keeping it back with my sunglasses whoo whoo for living in SA.

Good grief ma!! I cant believe how much she took off. I would have REFUSED to pay a cent. Ah well, it will grow out into a good shape and it still looks awesome just not your usually shaggy chic.

Ja, Mel I know - I should have but that's the trouble with really liking your hairdresser.

My protest was very muted but even so, she pulled her mouth as though she was going to cry; like: "oh no, after all my hard work and now you don't like it" so I folded and said "oh well, maybe I'll like it more when I get used to it"

I am SUCH a woes!

And Jo - yip, we have walked this road together before, haven't we?!
So you will totally get me.

I'm afraid that even wearing my SA sunglasses in trendy ways is not going to help me this time!

But good luck with yours. You will HAVE to go sometime. heh heh
Be sure to post a pic when you do, ok?

Ooooh
PS: Mel, I like the "shaggy chic" tag.
Nice!

This is the first time I have posted more comments than my visitors to my blog . . .

I will not use that old cliche "fortunately it will grow back" because it takes ages...but it looks good :)

With you on that one, have not met a hairdresser who knows how to 'trim'!

Oh and by the way, will take my time reading The Shack :-)

Thanks Lynette - actually you can use that for me because my hair grows really fast.
Good to be reminded of that
:-)

And Hayley, be sure and get back to me re The Shack. Am really hoping you will love it too

The freak removed 3 inches from your hair. At least judging by your profile photo. They're all the same. I guess they teach them that at hair salon school right?

Oh Ness!
Hahahaha snort!

The thought of the word "freak" in connection with her is SO funny.

But hmmm, ja - I had a moment when I cudda put her in that bracket

Prehaps if we all say "mirt" they'll understand more. I always get sweaty palms having a "mirt" as with curly hair, 1/2 an inch = 2 inches. Not great Allie but yes hair does grow thank the dear Lord :)

Oh and I see in some of the comments the Shack came up. My pastors wife here has just given me the book to read. Might attempt to read it on the plane. xx
