Double Take

This is the subject of my other blog "Sonsearcher" today but I am going to duplicate that post here for those who do not go there. Just because I think it is worth knowing about. This was in the weekend Rapport newspaper An article on the Atheist Bus Campaign in London. Just when you think you have seen it all, you find you haven't. Imagine! A drive to recruit atheists. . .

"Probably" means a 51% chance - so there is a 49% chance that they are utterly and completely wrong! That's a lot of uncertainty if your're supposed to be an atheist - odd they would pick that slogan?!

I wouldn't take the chance. :-)

Plus I know 100% that God exists - that's why I CAN enjoy my life.

It's just a really bad ad. Seriously attention seeking, and actually pointless. Enjoyment of life has nothing to do with a God or lack thereof. I know people who are atheists and desperately unhappy. Same with God-followers.

They're just assuming that believing in God means you can't have "fun". Or that you feel guilt about what you get up to... Once again, I reiterate - the God they're speaking about is my devil - who makes you feel guilty, law-abiding and punishable if "bad".

If not believing in God means we can do anything we think will add enjoyment to our lives and lead a valueless life, then I have a different view of atheism than the advertisers.

Why are people so driven to try and prove that God does not exist! You only need to look at nature and little babies to know how awesome He is! I guess that it must be hard if you do not have a relationship with Him...a relationship that is real!

It still amazes me that in this day people still do not believe that God exists. You just need to look around to see evidence that He does.

Perhaps if they stopped trying so hard to find every reason why He doesn't exist, then they could stop worrying and enjoy life!

Great post Allie.

Hey Allie - and everyone else...

I've almost been anticipating this kind of post for some time. They say it's impolite to discuss religion. But I couldn't resist... as the same way that you and the other commentators could not.

anyway - I've posted it now.. the comment that became a post on it's own. I think it may just open up a can of worms - but I hope it provides a little bit more balance to the gut reactions one has on the sight of the advert.

Actually Frank, I think that mindset about it being impolite to talk politics, religion and sex went out of the window quite a while ago :-)

All three are hot topics today, don't you think?

Everyone has their own view and is welcome to put it out there.

After all Jesus invited people to follow Him, He didn't force anyone.

He still doesn't

This is just sad...but I suspect it may have the opposite reaction from the one that is intended...
