Laptop Liturgy

I realise how irritating this post will be to some of you. I do. But I *need* this whinge. The good news - the new laptop has arrived in all its red glory. (Pic will be included if (a) blogger plays ball, and (b) laptop plays ball.) The frustrating part is - so many glitches with this swop-over! Partly, I spose, cause they have loaded Windows 7 but, oh my hat! Everything is demanding passwords: network, skype, my email won't deliver unless I produce one either. And I have no idea what any of them are! I have just spend a while with the technician trying to iron out the problems: the scenario is not pretty. Apparently they might need my old computer to get certain info. My old computer has gone to a new home about 1000 k's away. Gloom. Its really great that FB and my blog can be accessed easily - at least I can vent here. But at the mo, I have a few really important emailsto deal with (oh, plus a whole wodge of received emails - from April last year till a couple of days ago have just vanished from my inbox. Its pretty disastrous cause the important stuff is linked with those incoming ones.) I have just discovered that downloading my photos is going to need a university degree with this new set up. So, no pic of shiny red laptop yet Double gloom. But, hopefully, the senior boffin will arrive later on his white charger to rescue me And I will be a very happy camper And will post a boastful pic of my new toy Till then.

ugh... i long for the days when we used to start up gadgets with one click and they took off immediately without any need for upgrading, maintaining or virus protection....

I know those were just calculators, but hey, I love the simplicity...

Ugh, I feel your annoyance and frustration.

Nothing worse that not being able to immediately be able to play with your new toys!

Hope pc man sorts it soon.

My! but you are an understanding lot!
Thanks for listening to my moans.

Mmm, Clive, I'm all for simplicity too - in as many areas as poss.

I am all puffed up with pride at the mo tho: after two thirds of the day trying many things, I have finally got my emails up and running.

Oh the feeling!
Not only of being in touch again but of having overcome cyber difficulties.

I feel like a giant (in a good way)
*smirk*

I have to remember more passwords than a secret service agent and frankly I can't. So I have a little A6 book that has them all recorded (they're all super difficult alphanumeric ones, because I'm a geek like that) and then the book itself gets hidden in a variety of totally unlikely hiding places. Even the way I've written down the passwords is understood only by me, because again, I'm James Bondish like that. I suppose sooner or later I'm going to have to teach the hubby my 'code' in case anything ever happens to me.

Now all I gotta do is fathom how to get my pics from my camera on to my computer and I'll be good to go.
