So decided we'd wait till today and see whats under the (hated) carpets.
This is what we found when we lifted our carpets . . .
Beautiful, no?
There is a possibility that this is yellow wood!
And this part at least, is in good nick.
Now we wait with bated breath to see if the rest is going to be as good.
Then all that remains is to try to match the wood for the flooring when we enclose the deck.
Oh - and this is what the ceiling looks like with the cornices up (its not painted yet though)
Have a good week peeps!
PS: Here's the + part
Oh yes! Its looking good all around! Apparently the wood is beech. |
Sanding a small area to see what the natural colour is. |
Just gorgeous! A real 'blonde beech' Hehe Thats the actual clour - after the dust has been swept away. |

oh my goodness! what treasures lay beneath that carpet! wowowow.
such beautiful wooden floors - WOW!!!
I always ask myself this - when people find such beautiful floors under carpets...and that is, "Who the heck covers up floors like that!?"
Yes it sure is lovely!
@ Ness - I wonder if it has something to do with decor fashion?
There's no doubt that sometimes carpets are just "in" -
I remember my poor mother polishing all the floors every week when I was young! (We had parquet flooring)
Oh what a cartload of work that was.
And the floors marked. Watermarks and scuffs etc etc.
Now we have wonderful sealers: different story ito of keeping them clean and pretty hey?
Stunning...what wonderful treasure was buried under the carpet...lucky you:-)
Oh my word, that is a treasure! You can rent the big machines so sand it off in a day and then just seal with a proper new generation sealant.
What a gorgeous treasure beneath your carpet!
you found a lost treasure. what a blessing :-)
Nice♥
Isn't it wonderful when you find, that what you wanted was there all along? I love when that happens. I'm happy for you:)
Wow!!! Stunning floors and I love what Elizabeth said!
