Next Steps

Day 3

The paralysis-recovery-road took an unexpected turn yesterday
Instead of painting up a storm, with my girl dancing into grace, I went for my first power walk for ages
Unexpected but
Exercising is another thing that has been road-blocked, so it was great to 'go there'
(See from Day 1 to get some clarity on the above)
It was a steamy 35 degrees in Cape Town city, but mercifully here in the seaside suburbs it was tempered by a strong wind -
Otherwise my power walk would have been far from powerful :-)

Last night was wonderful!
My elder daughter and her husband celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at their home

Nearly 40 close friends and family gathered around the great couple at a laughter filled, spontaneous, relaxed occasion.

Three generations: our younger daughter, me, and our granddaughter, enjoying the moments.
I am so sad that, in the mill of people and goings on, I didn't think to get a shot of DH and myself with the happy couple

Then today, another unexpected twist to my present journey -
Baking is something I haven't even thought about doing for years!
Same reasons as all the other activities . . .
Then today
TaRAAAAAH!

Yes, that person, with the startled expression, clutching the dish cloth to my bosom, is me
Finding it hard to believe that those elegantly rising savoury muffins topped with chorizo sauages were baked by my own fair hands and were actually edible
Better - people came back for more!

So mindsets that have been shrinking my life experience are being debunked thick and fast.
I can't wait to see what'll be next :-)

Oh Allie, it is so wonderful that you could celebrate this milestone with your daughter and the whole family. I smiled when I read you didn't get a photo of you and your DH with the couple...I don't have photos of me and my DH on my big 50 bash :-)

Now I am not following you into this new baking thing of yours...but be proud of those lovely muffins.

I'm so not a blogger said...
