Decision

The Artist's Way is amazing!
The authoress, Julia Cameron, just keeps teaching me things.
The latest is that its possible to just keep dreaming about being creative.
Imagining that 'one day' (nice and vague) I will "really get into" - writing, painting, whatever . . .

Its quite shocking to see it in black and white like that
But good.
Because it calls forth action.

"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative {or creation} there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too."

The Scottish Himalayan Expedition by W.H. Murray, quoted in The Artist'sWay.

Strong words.
But helpful.
Because diffidence can masquarade as humility
And hesitancy be seen as 'being realistic'
Both, apparently, killers in terms of living out our creative urgings.
It can be difficult to make a bold stand without feeling inadequate.
But making that stand seems essential.

A trusted friend said to me years ago: "God can do nothing with an indecisive person."
It shook me at the time because the cap fitted.
It makes sense, though, when you think that God has chosen not to override the human will.
He never encroaches on people's freedom to choose.
And we surely need the Creator to be at the centre of our creativity!
So with this in mind, my "word" for 2012 is  DECIDE.
And we shall see what we shall see.
