A "Light" Moment

Hullo -

How do you like the new colour scheme?

Anyway...

I heard a couple of epic stories while I was away -

The teller of the following tale was a pastor whose church is deep in South African farmland which is rich, not only in soil but also in unusual, larger-than-life characters (literally and figuratively).

He told of an EXTREMELY large, elderly parishener of his who kept changing her mind about whether or not she wanted him to preside over her funeral.
His popularity with her waxed and waned like the phases of the moon.

She had her funeral organised to the last detail - in fact, when someone queried the menu for the tea afterwards, she got quite huffy, saying that it was all her favourite food.

She was not amused at being reminded that she would not actually be there.

The pastor discovered he was in favour at the time our generously proportioned lady died, so he did the funeral service and tried to carry out her instructions to the letter.

Strong men staggered under the weight of her coffin as they carried it into the church.

And again, at the end of the funeral service, they stepped up to take her to her last resting place.

As they lifted it, the casket gave up the unequal struggle: the top part of the coffin parted company with the lower part - leaving the very large dear departed lying serenely on its satiny floor!

:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) hahahahaha :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
