Sexpo

As you may know, Cape Town has had a Sexpo running for the last few days in Cape Town. People have very mixed reactions to this - Some people think it's great that sexual matters are being treated so openly and freely. Some are consumed with curiosity and can't wait to see what is actually going on there. Others have the horrors that something that should be so personal is being paraded through the public domain, being "sleazed out" in the process. Often at these things there is a well meaning Christian presence, hoisting placards with stern rebukes and threats of the wrath of God. They are doing what they believe they should but I am very proud of my church's action in response to this - Some of their people set up a stall inside the Sexpo offering an alternative way to spice up their marriage. Oh Man! I love the way they do not condemn, but offer real solid help. Now that is cooking, in my book! They have had a great response to what they were presenting. Are you surprised? I must confess, I was. But glad

I think what your church did was brilliant! When Sexpo was on in Durbs I was quite fascinated by all the fuss. My reaction is pretty much that if it floats your boat well go for it.

Yeah, I would have been keen to go take a walk through but the weekend ran away with me. Great that CG took a spot and had a stall.

Well that's a forward thinking church! Excellent. Now if someone could just have a word with the pope not to go bollocksing everything up for the catholic church, then that would be equally great.

My opinion about sexpo is that, we're mammals and there for we shag, and reproduce. The more education available around it the better. Even if it has to take the form of an event like that. I realise they're peddling more than just information, but still. The less stigma, the better.

Women in particular have been in the dark for too long about 'the things men get up to on their own' so best we educate ourselves and see what all the fuss is about! (and benefit from it in the process!!!!)

Hi there. Here from Gill's blog. Awesome idea!

Our JHB-based church is doing a series called "Sex in the city" at the moment and it's generating lots of interest (and, of course some criticism). We've got a billboard up on "the strip" in Rivonia (near Teasers and the other strip joints and adult shops) that says "Jozi loves Sex. God loves sex. Let's talk..."

Makes for heated discussions ;-)

I love what your church did. That's exactly what Jesus would do in my opinion. God created it...why not be there giving some creative alternatives.
