Blunt Pencils

Last night we decided an early night would be good since DH was still recovering from flu and had to go to Jbg on biznis again this morning. At 5 Blegh. At about 9.45pm, just as we were drifting off to sleep, DH's cell bleeps an sms message. Loudly. A bank - who shall go nameless coz I'm basically a nice person - no, actually because I might be arrested for defamation because I plan to rant - sms's him at night to let him know some arbitary transaction had taken place. Not anything unusual, mind you - just your average bill paying transaction. Flip man! Normally you can't get anyone to answer their phones a nano second after closing time. Now for DH and me, to be woken suddenly as we are drifting off means zilch sleep for the rest of the night. You can imagine, we were not the sharpest pencils in the box at 4.30am when we had to get up. Which explains why I so cheerfully said "Ok" to him when he asked if he could take my car. The battery of his car had gone flat. "What's one day without a car?" I thought, "I'm so flippin tired I probably won't go out anyway." Do you know, it took me till this afternoon to click that I am actually not just without a car today I am potentially without a car for 3 days. "Wake up Allie! He went to the airport, remember? Not just to work for the day" OH FREAK! I cannot be without a car the rest of the week! But wait. I am.

You must have been very tired when the car transaction took place.

Now call the family and get them there to help with the flat battery...that is what family is for remember.

9.30??? That's nothing. Another nameless bank (that has a blue logo) sms's me regularly in the wee hours of the morning!!! I phoned to complain, and apparently it is computer blips when that happens!! WHATEVER!! My face looks like a computer blip if I don't get my beauty sleep, you know!!

And - get that battery charged, and get out the house! x

If I wasn't so far away, I would come over and change it out for you. Those batteries go bad almost without notice. I have had that happen many times in life and it's no fun. I'm sure it will work out though!!

Guys!
I'm overwhelmed - thanks for the offers of help etc - and to Terry, who lives in the States, sweet thought really.

@ Lynette - Yes, fortunately I have two wonderful daughters who live close by and we will make a plan tomorrow to get the battery fixed.

@ Mel - how were you to know, kiddo?

Get one of your darling sons or Son-in-laws to sort out the battery - it's not that difficult!

Otherwise enjoy your home time - gosh i would be very happy not to have to go anywhere!
