Bombshell

I could hear in DH's voice that the call was something out of the ordinary. And not in a good way. He ended the call and looked at me, blank with shock. The 30-something year old son of friends of ours had hung himself. The person calling his parents from the UK (where it had happened), had run out of airtime half way through telling them the story. Can you believe it! So all they heard was that there was no pulse, no breathing and no response to CPR. And this devastated couple were left with no way of getting any further information until someone called them back. The father had called to ask us to come to over to be with them - We prayed on the way there: for them; for the child; for wisdom; for comfort . . . You feel inadequacy in the face of the pain of others in a very particular way, don't you? After what seemed like ages, some brief contact with the UK was made. Amazingly, they had found a pulse and he had started breathing again on his own! It seems like a miracle - We are praying for one, that's for sure. The latest? The hospital is running tests to see if there is any damage Pray with us, if you will, for a complete recovery for this young man. Especially that there would be no brain damage . . . Life is so fragile. And so precious.

OMG.

What a miracle. I just hope that with this second chance at life he grabs it with both hands.

Thinking of him.

goodness.... how awful. I pray that they find no brain damage, and that the reasons he tried to take his life will seem insignificant. Srongs to the parents. Will you keep us updated? x-x
