*Yawn*

Sometimes I have days when I drift from one thing to another, leaving a trail of half done, or undone chores.
Traction on my day seem to utterly abandon me.
At times like these, my Mom's brisk and practical voice echoes in my head, saying: "My dear child, do your chores first, then . . . "
She was right of course.
But sometimes, on days like these, just because I can, I fill a hot water bottle, and my mug of coffee; grab a book or the TV remote; sprawl full length on the couch - and laze away a couple of hours.
Before I've done my housework stuff.
Today I have a good excuse
Its raining and cold
And since no one has yet come up with a hotwater bottle that can be worn while in an upright postion
Its obvious, I have to lie down.
My only irritation is that I get involved in stories, so tend to fight the wonderful drowsiness that invites me to daytime snoozes.
That, and the knowledge that I will have to get myself into fast action very soon.
But yip, its been lovely while it lasted.

Look at you ! naughty Allie.

I hear our headmistress's voice: "Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest" (Proverbs 6:6-8).

Oh I have days like that often. But i believe they are good for our souls - or so i tell myself again and again!

What else is one supposed to do in cold weather?

@ M - Wow! It was worth exposing myself as a sluggard to "see" you here again!
Hmm, my Mom stopped short of quoting bible verses at me but was super organised and efficient.
None of us inherited that.
Weird hey?
I'm hoping its emerging in the next gen - my children are starting to show signs of it. :-)

@ Shayne - ah! an understanding voice - THANK you my friend.
For what its worth, I ws at a lecture by the noted philosopher and writer, Dallas Willard recently and he made much of the horror of the world's incessant rush and hurry.
So, we may be on to something, kiddo!

I think you need something to seize your imagination. To fire you up.

I reckon you have it in you to write some sort of saucy novel. Or Blog. Or something. Something that sets your imagination alight. Something that has you keeping a notebook and pen on hand so that you can jot down your thoughts to go and compose later.

Believe me, I know *totally* how easily I can fall into slugmode, but honestly since I've found my calling (the graphic design malarky and other stuff) I don't want to be sluggardly. At least not as much as always. ;)

Allie! You just gave your self an invention. A hot water bottle to strap to your chest!! You're gonna be a billionaire! You're welcome ;)

@ Mel - You're safe: did you not know that I am not a saucy novel chick?

I have to confess that I wondered where Ness got that bit from.
