Undone

Its one thing to know how beautiful God is, its quite another when that knowledge suddenly translates into a-lump-in-the-throat, blurry-eyed "I can't believe You would do even this, Lord!"

I'm not sure I can convey this but I'll try -

The God of the bible has many names, all showing something of His character.
Precious revelatory names.

But His covenant Name (YHWH) the Jewish people did (do) not even say; its regarded as too holy, too ineffable.
So they call Him Ha Shem - The Name.
Hashem.
The Name.
Far above any other

Against this backdrop, He sends His Son to us, with the express command that He be called Jesus.
'Yeshua', the Hebrew version of it.
When I realised that Yeshua is today's equivalent of Joe or John, I was undone.

God, whose name is too holy to even be mentioned, stoops to earth with the commonest, most ordinary of names.
Yet another aspect of His wondrous humility - His desire that we know He comes for all, identifies with the most commonplace, and looks down on none.
Imagine!
