Bad stuff, good stuff

Well, yup, who wudda thought I could go happily for 5 days, blog-free.
Thanks for the kick-in-the-pants, Mel!

Got a couple of things to share.
The really yuck first.
Newspaper article - Sunday Times, March 30th:

This is the UK, people!

I'm sure you techno-boffs will know how to enlarge this so that you can read the horrifying report on the roving gangs of 13-16 year olds, who kick people to death just for fun - and get one of their number to video it on a cell phone, also just for fun.

According to one of the experts - "revenge is the true motive behind Britian's wave of teen mayhem - revenge, she said, for loveless and violent upbringings...."

"We don't know how to deal with children in Britain - we see them as apprentice adults; we don't cherish them simply as children"

"These children are emotionally cold and nihilistic; they don't feel anything unless its the excitement of pursuing their prey and the release of victimising someone else"

"The absence of a compassionate, intervening, protective adult sends the child a perverse message: human life, initially their own, is not sacred or worth cherishing"

Normally that kind of rationalising of behaviour sticks in my throat - I believe people should take responsibility for their actions.

But there is a chilling logic in these assertions . . .

To the South Africans who are convinced that the grass is necesarily greener - take note!

On to something AMAZING - and thought provoking -

All I am going to give you is a single name to google.

"Akiane"

Prepare to be astonished.

This is really sad but true, I watch Sky news daily so I am aware of this and other nasties in the UK. The Shannon Matthews case is another one that just gets more interesting by the day - especially as she was 'found' 3 weeks ago.
