Split Personality

An amazing day in many ways
First a crystalline sunny clear warm day in the middle of a stormy winter.
Then the scary business of breaking to m,y in-laws that the time has come where they need to think about finding a retirement place.
DH and I had been dreading broaching this subject since my dear MIL is very adament about things. And especially about leaving her home FULL of knick-knacks accumulated over many decades.
But things went a lot better than we could ever have hoped.
Of course, we could get a reaction tomorrow, or the next day. But for now, all is peaceful.

Then this afternoon, I spent an hour with a childhood friend who is terminally ill.
She is still not bed bound but her time, according to doctors, is short.
There is something humbling and almost mystical about conversing with someone who is facing death.
I came away from there feeling something that I cannot put into words.
But somehow richer for the experience, although saddened by what is happening in front of our eyes.

And then this evening.
A walk along the beach
A still, crisp, cool clear beautiful evening.
And dinner overlooking the sea and the valley.

Richness indeed.

I have only faced the death of one of my friends close up like this and I didnt handle it that well. I have a song that reminds me of her though - Run by Leona Lewis, it still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it.

I too have problems with access to blogger because I have to log in and out bloody pain and it is sometimes just not worth the irritation. xxx

Yes Jo, I have that logging in and out irritation but also I am often not allowed to comment on friends blogs. Yours is one of them. I am reading you though. Love, allie
